Any Panasonic Tv owners out there getting the MHEG5 text? More specifically, the GT30 or similar vintage range?

No MHEG5 on Panny D25 & according to Panasonic it aint gonna happen either on the "vintage" 2010 models. Accordind to them it's a hardware not software issue.
I've seen it mentioned round here that all models are basically the same inside, just different bits being activated for each country.
Somehow Panasonic seem to be the only ones screwed by this, I believe that with the D25 in particular they had a problem with Freesat licencing outside the UK. This has left the D25 with only "now & next" EPG for DSAT & no MHEG5 interactive services.

I've a TX-P50GT30B and it's set to UK so I get the Freesat EPG, MHEG5 on Saorview seems to work fine (but checking it for you was only the second time I've used it!).

I think all or most of the "B" UK models are ok but the "L" Ireland" modeis are dead ducks for MHEG5, I think all the "L" models have the MHEG disabled.
I've been onto Panasonic CS numerous times, just been a waste time but my 42" D25 has a beautiful picture esp on the HD services from RTÉ & the UK FTA HD channels & I can live without the MHEG5 for the excellent PQ.

Yes I also believe this is the case, but many of the earlier UK models also have the 0x16 tuning problem too.

exactly, my z81 can't be retuned or I loose m saorview channels, but if i don't retune, I can't have my BBC HD channels. Waiting for a saorview box to go on sale TBH and to hell with the pana saorview lark

I have an older TX L37 G15 model.
In the early days of Saorview it worked fine.
Then RTE changed data stream and when I rescanned lost all the channels.
Technically, the TV's can display the channels,
    even MHEG5 text, perfectly.
    It's a tuning issue,
the set can't detect the channels on scan.
While testing some months back, I did a scan again,
and picked up ONE channel, which turned out to be RTE+1.
It even shows up in the EPG,
the only video channel among the radio stations.
This I can still view, as I never did a rescan.
Just checked it now, and shows Text perfectly.
    CS on Panasonic sucks,
I find it hard to believe this is a hardware issue.
If they at least gave us manual tuning with PID and VID numbers on an RF channel,
it would at least allow us to view the channels.

Thanks for the replies. So I take it the B models are the ones to get from now on? Even though Panasonic Ireland will only officially say that Saorview is available on the L models, however it's not Saorview approved or apparently doesn't support MHEG-5 like the B models do.... strange!!
I have a G10L, but can't remember if it does the new text it's been that long since it's had a DVB-T signal, I have that going to my HTPC, which works perfectly with MHEG5. Just trying to find out why it's not working in my folks place, neither on the PC nor the GT20. Looks like it may never work on the GT20, but I now know it should work on the PC somehow!!

I have the TX-P50V10B and the MHEG-5 text works fine ..

However, as with a lot od the older Panasonics, I cannot rescan as I will lose my channels so when Mux 2 starts RT2 HD will be a gonner ...

    CS on Panasonic sucks,
Crap Channel 5 PQ is not unique to Panasonics. There's a whole thread devoted to it over on the DS forums under Freesat.

But the disappearing channels on rescan issue is a trivial firmware fix. They only need to tell the Telly to accept a 0x1 and a 0x16 BOTH ....where for now it will only populate the EPG with 0x1 headed channels.

The greedy sods won't do that, leaving a load of bricked 1-3 year old Panasonic TVs lying around Ireland. :(

It is because they will not issue a trivial firmware fix that I recommend NOBODY BUY PANASONIC IN IRELAND!!!!

    CS on Panasonic sucks,.
That's an S, not a 5! :) I think he's referring to CS, as in Customer Services, as opposed to C5, Channel 5!

PQ is the least of Channel 5's problems, if you drop "PQ" from your first sentence, its still right :pac:

Absolutely not. The B models won't do EBU text another Saroview specification.

The ones to get from now on is something that is not Panachronic.

I will when some of the others offer decent picture quality! LCD is not a direction I'm interested in. OLED is a while away.

That's the reason I stick with my Panasonic model, TX L37 G15B,
the picture quality is outstanding, blows everything else I have seen out of the water, including newer models at triple the price, and the connectivity, 4 hdmi's, dvi, scarts, component etc.
Pity they won't accomodate us Irish with a simple firmware fix for DVB program scan, because that's all it is, a little piece of code.

Same feeling, my TX-L42D25L outshone everything on display in store. Obviously I'm really annoyed they won't release a fix for my EPG & MHEG5, just gotta live with it. The PQ makes up for their crappy treatment of their Irish customers. Recommend Panasonics NO!

Any other Panasonic TX-L37E30B owners on here?

With the latest Saorview update , everytime I turn on the TV I get a New Channels message. When I let it rescan, it doesn't seem to find RTE1 correctly. RTE 1 is there and watchable but it doesn't identify itself on the EPF and Rescan Required appears beside it.

The chances are that the issue is not the tv. Take a look at the mux2 thread stickied on this forum. My problem was I had to mount my aerial outside, it was in the attic.

RTE 1 (1st one listed is the older non-HD channel, no Channel name)
RTE1 HD is further up the list around 828.

Just move RTE 1 HD to "1"
RTE 2 HD to "2" etc.

TV3 and 3e still have the NAR/ENG sound issue

"Service mode" workaround. Set TV as France, do scan, save to SD Card, reset TV to normal mode and load in new channels from SD Card.
    Takes about 20-25 mins.

    Cheers
    Mick
