    No, it's not necessary.

    As somebody who has started development for iOS I can tell you that getting a piece of software onto a device is not for the fainthearted. A commercial developer once told me that if you manage to get a piece of software released on the iTunes App Store, that is a major achievement.

    Apple vet everything that is released, so the chances of getting malware onto an iOS device is slim to none.
