Orthodontist in Dublin OR Northern Ireland

    Hi all

Just wondering if anybody could give me some recommendations (by PM is ok and required I guess under forum rules!) for orthodontists either in Dublin OR in Northern Ireland (I'm willing to head up north for treatment if it's good value for good treatment)? I will probably be going to London for the weekend sometime in the next couple of weeks, so if anyone had recommendations for good orthodontists in central London, that would be welcome too!

My permanent retainer/wire on the back of my lower teeth snapped off this evening when I was eating a pear (ouch!). I have them on the top and the bottom to keep my teeth in place following (extremely intensive during my teenage years) orthodontic work. I need to get it replaced ASAP because I am worried about my teeth starting to move again.

I am not from Ireland so I have no idea where to start when it comes to recommended orthodontists! Obviously I want to get good value, but a good practitioner is important to me because so much time and money has been spent on my teeth already!

    Thanks :D

Orthodontic treatment of any complexity will take 20 or more visits. Convenience to your workplace or home is IMHO essential. 20 half days, 20 tanks of petrol etc will really shoot the cost up and consume huge amounts of your time. Maybe start with the orthodontic society of ireland website for registered specialist orthodontists in Dublin. I am sure you can find somebody good. Recommendation by PM only please.

Hi Fitzgeme, thanks for your comment! :) I've had a series of permanent retainers on my teeth for over ten years since my braces finally came off. I know that what I require done will only take two visits max (one visit to take the model for the retainer wire, one to put it on).

I come from a family of dentists (but am not from Ireland, so don't know any here) so I know the tire-kicking game of some disingenuous practitioners who smell a mark. Therefore going up North or to London to a good specialist will be fine for me, as I go to both places regularly.

Sorry there OP didn't read carefully, a voided retainer will take one or two visits and will have nominal cost, go to any registered orthodontist to do this for you, its not a big job. Go where its handy for you I will PM you a recommendation.
