Wireless Speeds

    Hi all i recently upgraded from 30mb to 50mb with upc and got a new Cisco EPC3925 wireless modem but am only managing 20/22mb max wirless speed,so i tried changeing the channel but of litle good so i went and bought a realtek rtl8101su wireless N adapter but speeds are no different do i need to change settings on router???:confused:

    Most of the wireless "headers" are sent at a very low data rate / robust encoding, to make sure all nodes on the network can receive them, so only the data portion of the packets will be sent at the fast rate.

    No mater how many mega bits are written on the box, this typically just refers to the data portion and not the headers, so realisticallly you'll never achieve that.

    Best go with some CAT5 cable if you can, or some power line adapters...
