    in kitchen sink. But... no stopcock between cylinder and sink. Will I really have to drain the damn cylinder?

    Ideas?

    No , you turn off the cold supply to the cylinder , this is the valve on the pipe that comes from the attic into the bottom of the cylinder , if you cant find it post a pic and ill identify it for you , by closing this it only emptys the hot pipe and not the cylinder , when you have the eater off it would be a good idea to fit an isolation valve under the sink on the supply pipe to the tap for future use so you can isolate this tap on its own.
