Hi all- I'm currently looking to buy my first car. Got my licence about a year ago but live in the city centre so have not had much need for a motor really.
Anyway- I'm thinking of an A3, 1.6 2002-2005 for under 5k. I've looked at the focus but the interior is so much nicer on the A3
I'm 31 and male. Any thoughts advice or tips?

    Cheers!

Get an insurance quote... if you don't really need a car the cost might be out of all proportion?

You should also consider a Vw Golf there essentially the same as the a3 but better value you could get a well kited out 2005 version on your budget such as this

Basic insurance for the 1.6 A3 is around €200 less than the 1.6 focus for some reason. I'd be looking at approx 700.

I've looked at the golf but they're a little boring imo. Plus I like the look of the A3

That is mad money considering the age, mileage and basic spec. This one looks a bit better value:

But in general A3s are poor value for money second hand and most Irish ones are very poorly equipped and people ask silly money for them.

It does seem to be the cheapest '04 A3 going on DD at the moment..
