    Or IBS.

How do you cope? It's stressful on the partners too. My o/h doesn't have a stoma but he had one when he was younger. He's now 21 and he thinks that when he gets older, his health will decrease. This terrifies me. I'm constantly encouraging him to eat healthier and to drink lots of water and look after his body. He's in and out of hospital all the time but he knows that he never has to go through it alone and I'm behind him every step of the way.

Is there anyone else out there like me?

My husband has crohns, he has had it for many years since before we first met. I was lucky that I had studied it before I met him because I thought that our diets were opposite and wondered what would happen if a type 1 diabetic like me and someone with crohns married - we found ou! We have two young children (8 and 22 months). Like you I was worried but I educated myself on the condition. As it turns out my husband was great help when I was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer over 5 years ago - we both have the same scar on our tummy!

Ii is not easy as I hate seeing him ill but he is wonderful and I love him!

I have borderline personality disorder so I'm constantly in and out of clinics and getting check ups and like him, i have my good days and bad days. and when it comes to understanding an illness, he understands me fully. i'm sick mentally while he's sick physically. but together, we're whole.

I'm SO glad there's someone else out there who understands! Thank you!! It's scary knowing what they go through and it upsets me knowing that once, they went through it alone.

Hi OP, Im a 23 year old male who has crohns disease. I got diagnosed and had my first operation just before my 18th birthday. Just want to tell you that crohns affects everyone differently. I like to try maintain a healthy enough lifestyle but im lucky that i can eat and drink what ever i like. it is only stress that affects me. I have always ben on a maintenance dose of tablets and had only ever had one relapse. I lead a normal life just like everyone else, have got through a very difficuly undergrad at universsity and am now pursuing a masters in a highly regarded course at university. The key to crohns i believe is having a balance in life. Its also good in that because you have to get a check up and bloods done fairly regurarly you know you are not suffering from anything else.
