ok, i have an epson rx560 printer which was working away no problem last night. This morning, different story.

It won't print files such as word or excel but prints other files no problem.

It doesn't even get as far as the printer interface.

    Any ideas??

I'm not sure what that means.

If you changed nothing since last night , were there any automatic software updates applied by staying plugged into internet?

Is your print software up to date with the OS version?

Using "Disk Utility", run "Repair Disk Permissions"

Restart with the <shift> key held to clear caches, etc.(Safe Mode Boot)

    Restart again

If all that fails, download and run an app called "Print Therapy" (you can run it legally without paying a licence for 7 days in demo mode) and use it CAREFULLY to prod probe and fix various print related thingys.

You really can't expect to get a useful answer if you can't be bothered to tell us what hardware you have or the OS version or the software versions that are giving you problems. Also your descriptions are vague.

But, just in case it's relevant, Apple's "security update" version 1.0 2012-001 released on Wednesday had a bug that prevents "Rosetta" applications from working correctly. Anyone suffering from this should go to Software Update and download again, as Apple has just updated it to Security Update 2012-001 version 1.1, which seems to have fixed it.

^^^ + 1. Older versions of Office for Mac used Rosetta for the install and some other functions.
