I know this has probably been done to death, but there must be good waterproof overshoes out there that just work. There must be dammit! :D

I have the Endura ones and they are useless..... so any recommendations?

Plastic bags and ductape under overshoes. Works for me.

The cheap-ish BBB waterflex or whatever they are called work really well. Unless you are talking about heavy rain which I don't think anything will work for long.

I use SHimano Gore-tex lined boots during the winter months and even these do not work in heavy rain, even with mudgaurds the splash back from the road eventually penetrates my shoes. I Was thinking of getting some sealskinz waterproof socks to see if they might help in keeping my feet dry.

The trick is to keep your feet warm in winter, not to keep them dry. Winter socks, bib tights and neoprene overshoes do it for me. (make sure your shoes aren't too tight). If it rains, your going to get wet!

    ^^^^^ This.
The endura ones are neoprene and are designed to keep your feet warm but not dry. Think wetsuit. Its the same material.
As said above in prolonged wetness nothing will keep you dry its just a matter of staying warm.

There is no wet gear on the planet that will keep water out for extended periods. Eventually they will all allow water in.

I think the shock most people get with the endura ones is not that they let water in, but that they appear to let it in so quickly even if your jacket is still keeping you bone dry. I've never had an issue with coldness and the endura ones though. They seem to get even warmer when wet.

One trick that someone else mentioned here recently was to put your tights/leggings outside the overshoe. Half of the problem is that water soaks into your leggings and then soaks down inside the overshoe to your socks. Leggings outside the overshoe will keep your feet drier for a bit longer.

    What socks do you use/recommend?

Even with waterproof tights, winter socks and gore-tex overshoes, my feet still get wet from condensed sweat and road splash. For me the biggest difference between wearing them and not is: Warm(ish) and damp feet versus cold and sodden ones.

I've found Endura neoprene ones fine in the past... once I got over the struggle of getting the things on my feet! They sole did disintegrate over time though.
