    Hello,
I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me with this. My grandfather died this week and I'm looking to engrave a ring to wear in his honor. He was a first generation American and was incredible proud of his Irish heritage. I was thinking I wanted to find a seanfhocal/proverb/saying/phrase that could provide a sense of comfort or peace. So if you can think of any that inspires perseverance or strength in you please share it with me. He was very much the patriarch of our family and is already greatly missed. He was my mentor and the family rock and I want to carry that with me.

Also, as I am not an Irish speaker, could you provide the saying in both Gaeilge and English. I'd like to have the saying engraved in Irish, but I also want to know what it says smile.gif.

Thanks for your time. It is greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing any of your ideas.

    -Cailin

Have you looked at the Daltai (with a fada on the 'i') website - they have a list there.

Proverbs usually have 5+ words and would be hard to fit onto a ring.
A few words on their own might do?
Strength : Tréan or Neart or Treise.
    Strong: Láidir.
    Enduring: Buan
    And: agus.
"Láidir agus buan" ...strong and enduring.
