Insurance Cooling Off Period

Got insured recently, but am not happy with the policy after reading the documentation in detail. What I was told over the phone does not match what I have been signed up for. I took out the policy on Monday night, 23rd January at 8pm, and was told I was insured immediately from then, but didn`t receive the cert and disc in the post until Friday 27th.
Supposedly I have 14 days cooling off period from the moment my insurance starts or the moment I receive my cert and disc, whichever is later. So would I be fine returning the documentation by post by Friday then? I`d prefer to remain insured until then as I won`t have time to sort out alternative insurance before Friday. Anyone have experience doing this?

You were insured from the phone call onwards, you just didnt receive the paperwork. What exactly was left out on the policy compared to what you were told on the phone?

Most likely you have 14 days from the moment your policy started, so you must return all paperwork tomorrow.
I would even make sure that it's OK if they receive it Tuesday or Wednesday even if you send it tomorrow.
Otherwise you might need to bring it to their office tomorrow.

I had specifically asked for "drive other cars" on my insurance, and when the paperwork turned up (a few years ago) it was excluded. I just rang them back and said I wanted to cancel if they couldn't include it for the original price, and they sent out new paperwork within a few days at no extra charge.

Ring them straight away in the morning and ask if they can sort it out, but be aware that if you cancel over the phone you're not insured from that moment, even if you haven't posted the paperwork yet.
