If I cancel sky, will I lose RTE and Tv3?
I do if i remove card, so i presume so?
Cant get an analogue signal of them and cant afford saorview hardware.

You don't need a Saorview aerial if you already have aerial which works for the old analogue service and gets TV3 it should be fine.

Also, people who live near high power transmitters can get away with set top aerials which are very cheap.

If the tv isn't saorview compatible, the op needs a saorview box. They can keep the skybox for the UK tv and saorview box for Irish tv.

This one in Argos is priced at €70.99 on the website but €49.99 in the new catalogue??,it's €24.99 if you buy it along with a non-saorview tv.

Perhaps a combi box like the ones mentioned in the terrestrial forum would be a better job,not certified for saorview but only one remote & box needed for Irish & UK tv.

So i would need a saorview box AND an aerial?
    TV isnt saorview.
Well its four years old, so it probably isnt.

This is a constantly asked question.

If you cancel Sky, then all you need is one of these. If you dont have an aerial for the saorview part, they can be bought for about €20.

You can connect the existing satellite lead that was going to your Sky box to the Ferguson Ariva above. It also take an aerial for the Saorview channels 9as you can see from the 2nd photo which is the back of the box).
This box combines both the satellite channels and the Saorview channels in one channel list on one remote control.

It also plays MKV media video files if a USB drive is connected to it and you can record to the USB drive also.

Cost of the Ferguson ariva 120 ? €100. Once off payment. Its all the free stuff on one box. No subscription costs, AT ALL. NO MORE BILLS. Totally legal. There is a thread in the terrestrial forum with 250k+ views. Its popular. Lots of people dont have the money to pay Sky. Most people dont realise what is actually free.

Here are just some of the channels you will receive.

I second that - a fantastic piece of kit, at a very reasonable price.

So now im intrigued and looking into this:

My sky box is connected to all the tvs in the house, ie you can watch whatevers on the main tv on any other tv. It seems i wouldnt be able to do that with this?

Main tv is in the sitting room so this is where the unit could go.
We have a tv on the wall in the kitchen, nice and neat with no wires on show, a tv in a sun room, and a tv in one bedroom. What are my options for these tvs now so? Will they become useless?

I could keep the sky box and use the other channels tab for all the free channels, that way theyll all still be viewable around the house.

Then maybe buy a saorview box such as the one above, but I'll still need an aerial installed? Is that do-able?

Another problem might be that my aeriel socket behind the tv, is used to supply the signal out of sky box around the house. I presume this is where the saorview signal would want to be coming in?

That's not the aerial socket that is feeding the signal around the house, besides your skybox can do that.

What is your reception for RTE/TG4 etc. like at the moment? If you get decent reception on all the analogue channels then it's likely a simple aerial like you might be using already will do.
There's a saorview box in Argos for €49.99- this is the catalogue price, for some reason it's more expensive online. According to the new catalogue it's €24.99 if you buy it along with a new non saorview tv.

You will need an additional piece of kit similar to a Triax tri-link in order to send the signal from a ferguson or other combo box around the house. Unless the tv's in the other room are saorview compatible then you will be limited to watching the same channel in all rooms at the same time.
