Internal chimney breast & installing boiler stove

    Hi,
We have a solid chimney breast built coming out into our sitting room. We initally had an open fire with back boiler in it, no good whatsoever as no heat and draughty, so then blocked of back boiler and fitted a stanley NB Oisin about 3 years ago. Great heat in room.

But now we are thinking of putting in a boiler stove to save oil as we have fire lit most of time anyway. This would mean taking out stove and original back boiler. Also I would like to create enough space in chimney breast for a stove, possibly Erin, so it can sit back further into chimney breast but is this possible to even do this with a solid chimney breast?
    Has anyone ever done this?
Also, would it be straight forward the fitting of stove? I was reading some threads earlier , would pipes have to go upstairs or because there was already a back boiler there before would that be ok?
Am no nothing about plumbing etc....

Hi:) You really need a plumber to visit your home to quote and see your plumbing system and to see if the fireplace can be enlarged.

Your old back boiler may not still be connected to the heating system so may need replumbing.

It really depends on the age of the property as most more modern houses are built to accommodate a standard 18 inch wide clay fireback. If the house is older then you may be able to enlarge the opening. Again this is what the plumber will look at. If it's not possible to enlarge the opening consider an inset boiler stove.

Good luck with it. Stove Fan:)

Hi:) you probably wont be able to enlarge it much:(. As it's still connected it's a big plus:)

I would seriously consider an inset boiler stove.
