Hi, I am looking at purchasing a hand held uhf/vhf radio, however I am trying to find out if you need a uhf license as I already have a vhf license. Thanks. in advance.

What sort of licence have you?
If it's a commercial licence it's not a VHF licence, but a licence for a particular frequency or group of frequencies.

If "Amateur" there are no VHF licences. The Amateur licence covers various bands and channels from 137Khz to over 10GHz.

Marine has a VHF licence (150 to 160MHz band approximately) but I never heard of UHF Marine. There is also an HF Marine licence.
