Alternatives to the Opel Zafira?

Currently looking for a second hand MPV for growing family, the main criteria are:
    • Price range: €6K -€8K
    • Engine Size: 1.6 - 1.8
    • 7 Seater
    • Year: 2006 - 2008
    • Low maintenance
    • Low running costs
From my limited knowledge of motors, the Zafira seems to be the best fit. The Ford Galaxy seems very big and also more expensive, Seat Alhambra also seems more expensive than the Zafira. When I run the search criteria on carzone the Zafira gets the most search results. Can anyone suggest any alternatives?

In the small Mpv with 3 rows of seats sector you're looking at

    Grand scenic
    Zafira
    Corolla verso
    Kia carens
    Mazda5
    Citroen C4 Picasso
    Peugeot 307/308 sw
    VW touran
    VW Caddy Life

Renualt grand scenic 1.6 it seems the best value for you it's more practical than the zafira and it has plenty of spec it's very safe too and you could get an 07 one with your budget

hyundai trajet although it has the 2.o petrol engine is a great little car i myself have one would not go near an opel, trajet cheap to run and maintain just dont by the diesel as they give problems in the gearbox

If the op finds the galaxy too big, the trajet won't fit the bill either, That's before you get to looks, fuel consumption, comfort etc.

He wanted something cheap to run....the non standard service repair costs on a scenic can end up being huge.

Cheap to run? Guzzler on petrol, highest tax of the op's options and they eat tyres, brakes and front shocks.

Not too many Maxda 5's around. Also, the boot space and third row leg room seem very limited.

This is what happens in small mpvs.

In 4 years our 05 scenic hasnt cost a penny outside normal servicing (and crash damage :-) )

In MPVs of that size you sacrafice boot space for an extra row of seats. If you need both then you need to look at full size MPVs like the Galaxy.

No less then a zafira though surely? These small MPV's will always be either 3rd row or boot...not both.

I'd run and touch some wood if I were you:P

Mazda 5 or zafira for me. Mazda reliability and zafira is tried and tested and has been hugely successful

The sedona's have a 2.9L engine so tax is crazy on them..

My sister had a grand scenic. She wouldn't go anywhere near a renault again after the hassles they had with it.

So what did you get on the end. And in the same market myself now, leaning towards a Mazda5 atpresent.

The OP hasn't been online here for a few weeks, I'd say PMing him would be better than replying to thread
