applying for volunteering now for summer? tooo late?

trying to figure out what to do for the summer and volunteering has always appealed to me .. only thing is its already feb is this too late to get involved now?

also would properly be going alone would this be unusual?

Well the last minute ones are usually the ones that charge a bomb and are usually travel agents, not charities. Look into Camara, they usually still hire volunteers late enough.

I'm looking into this too, I've contacted EIL Volunteering Abroad and am waiting for a respose as to what project I would be suitable for, if any, and the costs. Also been in touch with Africa Direct, as I know they are a very trustworthy charity but they may be too expensive. if you're going for short term then it's 850 for the first week and 200 for each extra week you are there. Going alone as well so asked if I could join any groups, just for safety really!

Please consider volunteering independently. Paying to volunteer really grinds my gears. There was a thread a few weeks back with some links posted. Have a look at the likes of these guys www.hostelhoff.com
