I'm a 2nd yr geog student and am doing an assignment based on the Peatlands in Ireland. One part of it is a debate and I've been given the role of a wildlife ranger. I would really love to be able to present an accurate picture of the role. I have to use journal articles etc.. but would love first hand view.
    thanks

Hi Angeldaisy, did you try contacting NPWS, I have always found them very welcoming and helpful.

Secondly, if you are in south Dublin / north Wicklow area try Coillte in Newtownmountkennedy, they have full time & part time rangers there, and again they are all very helpful..or any Coillte area for that matter..

    Best of luck..

    Paul..

    Angeldaisy,

Here is a place to start: http://www.wicklowmountainsnationalpark.ie/WorkingHere.html

For NPWS contact details check out their website:
    http://npws.ie/contactus/

Depending on where you are in the country you could also contact your local/nearest National Park, there are 6

    Glenveagh NP, Donegal
    Ballycroy NP, Mayo
    Connemara NP, Galway
    The Burren NP, Clare
    Killarney NP, Kerry
    Wicklow Mountains NP, Wicklow

Additionally some Nature Reserves have Visitor Centre with Education Officers that would be more than willing to assit, one of which is Clara Bog Nature Reserve which might be the sort of place you want to contact for a project on Raised Bogs!

lots of great advice there thank you. We are going to Clara Bog next week so will get to meet a ranger there which will be brilliant.
The websites have loads of info, again thanks for the pointers:D
