    Moved from Film Reviews.

I thought it was going to be terrible and was dreading watching it, but I actually really enjoyed The Time Traveler's Wife. At least the time travel made logical sense, which is more than can be said for most time travel films.

I didn't think it was awful, it was ok but overall it was a very tame adaptation of one of my favourite books ever. It should have been amazing but it was just very mediocre.

I thought it was a woeful film, but the book is excellent - one of comparatively few novels I've read that (correctly, IMO) decided that the interesting parts of a love story come after the wooing and initial honeymoon period, not before.

The problem with the film was that the screenplay treated the source material as a conventional romance and robbed it of everything that made it any good.

Edited to add: I went to see it with my other half, as we'd both enjoyed the book. We both thought it was a woeful film.

I actually thought it was worse than mediocre. They stripped any darkness out of the characters, and completely sanitised the creepy overtones of the early relationship from both perspectives. The book plays with really interesting ideas and the film, I felt, just tried to wedge the time travel in around the love story (which they made boring).

    +1

So many little details omitted from the source material that diluted into a run-of-the-mill hollywood romance film.

TIME AFTER TIME is quite good.

HG Wells chases Jack The Ripper
to er, a modern day, San Francisco.

Only the original TIME MACHINE beats
    this beaut into top spot!

I thought it was alrite, I have watched a lot worse.

It was an ok film to sit in and watch with herself, who liked the film. No other reason to watch it.

The book was fantastic, the film merely a better than average chick flick.

Haven't read the book, thought the movie was OK, but not great.

For a chick flick it wasn't bad. Eric Bana is a good actor and Rachel McAdams is adorable. Actually I quite enjoyed it.

    I agree. Wasn't too bad.

Also, I really like Science Fiction films/tv/books and the time traveling element to the film kept me interested.
