Grant eligibility with rental income

I'm trying to work out income eligibility based on 2011/12 criteria. Our family income is within the current limits, but my parents have a rental apt with a very large loan - so it's loss making. I'm not clear from the student finance or the govt docs which figure to apply. Does anyone out there know if the loan repayment is allowable against rental income for the purposes of reckonable income in grant world?

    TIA

Hi They won't allow mortgage paments or mortgage interest on rental property.
They only allow things like rental agent, repairs, painting: etc.
Also: loss on rental income wont be set off against other income in order to bring the income down.
