I'll just say right from the start that this is not a troll thread and it's not a Sexton vs. O'Gara thread either.

I thought he had a decent game and I simply can't understand why some people want O'Gara to start next week. His kicking out of hand was poor enough but when he put the ball through the hands Ireland actually looked dangerous in attack. I was impressed with his defence too. He dealt with runners down his channel and he certainly didn't let the team down.

I don't understand why he kicked so much though. He plays his best rugby when the ball is in his hands and he gets the chance to put players into space. International rugby is a step up from HEC rugby but his natural game is to keep ball in hand and we didn't see that today. In fact there was a lot of aimless kicking by the Irish team which just led to Wales getting easy possession. I have to wonder if this was part of the gameplan set out by Irish management.

So far next week I'd definitely start Sexton. When we actually went through the phases we looked dangerous. Sexton is your man for those situations.

I want Sexton starting next week too. ROG is an amazing kicker but in essentially every other department he's short of Sexton. We need attacking Rugby which is where Sexton comes in, if by some miracle we actually establish a lead bring O'Gara on later into the game and have him kick the French back into their 22 repeatedly like we did against England last year.

The Sexton Vs O'Gara battle seen on the forums after each game is more so down to Leinster Vs Munster tribalism than actually wanting one over the other for genuine reasons IMO.

Sexton kicked stupidly and badly from hand. BUT, he was following orders from St.Declan who has failed to move Ireland on from either the GS or the RWC. If Sexton was picked Ireland should have ran the ball all day, not kicked. If you are going to kick then play O'Gara. St.Declan admitted that Gatland out smarted hin in NZ, well he did it again today. What was O'Gara going to do in 3.5mins?

How do you justify picking O'Callaghan over Ryan when Ryan keeps O'C off the Munster team? When O'C was responsible for the cóck up at the line out which lead to the first Wales try.

Kidney f*%ked up, end off. A crap game plan.

Wales deserved to win, Ferris was not a yc at the end, but Kidney's fault.

Nothing spectacular from Sexton but did little wrong in fairness. O'Gara would have been seriously targetted if playing during that Welsh onslaught in the first half and we would possibly have conceded more tries.
Hats off to Wales on an outstanding performance, better team by a long shot. should have won by far more than 2pts.
Its Sexton for me again next week.

Sexton is not an outhalf whose first reaction is to kick, that alone is evidence that it is Deccies masterplan to kick the ball back to a beastly massive and quick Welsh backline. If Johnny was playing in a blue jersey today I can guarantee we wouldn't have seen a Johnny in a straight-jacket.

We will loose to France, just beat Scotland, could very easily get nabbed by Italy (despite what we did to them in the WC) and England is 50 50 imo regardless of who starts at ten. Dammit DK could take Leinster on current form and f**k the rest of the season for them. Clearly the man isnt in control any more...whatever game plan he's trying to play hasnt worked since '09 and the introduction of the new rules - a rudderless England 6N '11 and an injury hit Aussie team with a crap scrum and out of form 10 aside in the WC. We need fresh ideas in Ireland, a new coach who's not from here so all the provincial BS can be cast aside and the best team put out on the park playing innovative rugby. Ill cheer the boys on regardless but at this stage i wont expect much

Kidney should be building for the future, not starting a near 35 year old out-half. The people who want ROG to start are painfully short-sighted.
