It's petrol. I'd say they are just being realistic with the price given that anything petrol and in the passat size class is being shunned by buyers right now

It's 1.4 petrol, I didn't think the Passat came in a 1.4? Seems like quite a small engine for a relatively big car?

Its the old model now and with the 1.4 turbo petrol which is not what the majority want in a passat so its not so cheap.
If you went and paid alittle over 20k for a 2011 new model diesel, it would probably be a better buy over a period of a few years.

Hi Mickdw, can you expand a bit on this? Do they age well?
I was thinking of getting the same car, but an 08 or 09.
    Something like this:

    or

From my limited research people seem to have been saying the TSI was okay and did the job.
I'd be holding onto it for a good few years, so wondering if it might be a bad buy now......

Both of them are way overpriced imo. You will get a TDI for that money.

They are a good car and pulls quite well with 122bhp. How much mileage do you do??

Less than 15k, so was thinking petrol.
I'll look at similar diesels for price comparison. Thanks.

I'd stay well clear of that boy. VW cars are bad enough in the reliability department as it is and since this is going at a knock down price it is probably cursed with problems to a greater extent than most.

Stay away from VW is my advice anyway. Anyone I know who had/has one has encountered faults on a routine basis. Usually expensive to fix faults that inevitably reoccur again and again. VW dealers are often clueless as to what to do too. I could name one dealer in particular that are less than useless and is to be avoided at all costs. PM me for info.

Just beware when dealing with VW.

I imported a late 08 virtually unmarked tdi se 140 saloon for under 10k euro with 75000 miles and service history.
Diesel seems to be the way forward for resale and mpg purposes if you intend on getting out in a year or two.

That was very reasonable. Is it a CR engine???.
