    Hi

I was using my brothers laptop to move files within a wireless network to my desktop computer. i was doing a lot of movement of files from his laptop to my desktop.

i noticed the laptop was very hot and checked the tempeture on it. it was up on 80 degrees on the CPU. i have had trouble with this laptop before where it had died and was just out of warranty. i got onto pc world and after alot of talk they took the laptop sent it away and sent it back fixed. they never told me what the problem was but i believe the mainboard had died due to severe heat.

i was just wondering would moving alot of file put stress on the CPU causing it to overheat or should i get back onto pc world before the laptop dies again. the laptop is now about 2 years out of warranty but it is about a year since they fixed the last problem.

    Regards

No, it shouldn't, it might just have been a broken fan anyway

Nvidia 8xxx series video card (GPU)? If so well then its going to fail again more than likely at some stage, those cards do run hot and burn out, there may be a bios update for your laptop which changes fan speed settings to keep the chip cooler, still its only a matter of time though!
