    Car results for Honda accord.
Front axle near side 27 mm
    ... ... Offside 20mm
Imbalance 26 mm and above 30 is a fail

Question where are these measurements from and which side is on the way out?

are you sure the imbalance is not 26%

edit: it on the back of the page which side is which! best to replace shocks on both sides also

It means that one of your shocks is more worn than the other.

If you go for NCT next your, they both might be gone, and your imbalance will be smaller than now.

I kno that but which is worn more coz I don't feel it when driving

It means that one shock had 27mm or travel while the other had 20mm. The one with 27mm of travel is more worn.

Its close to a borderline pass so I'd be considering new shocks over the next while.....don't wait another 2 years for the next NCT!

Shocks should also be replaced in pairs.

Hang on, isnt that nm, not mm and really the actual figure has no bearing on what is actually a fail or near fail.
The imbalance is then a percentage figure. Your percentage difference (imbalance) was 26% so its a pass as it must be over 30% difference between them to fail. The 26% came from the 7 (difference) devided by 27 (higher figure recorded) =25.9%.

As to which side. Assuming Im correct and the reading is in nm (newton metre), I would assume that the shock with the lower reading is the poor one. This would also tie in with the higher reading being used in the imbalance calculation.

I would look at getting both shocks replaced at some stage as by replacing one, you could very possibly still have an imbalance.

the differance might be 7MM but on the nct report the imbalance is given in percent (%) as mickdw has worked out for you.

it on my nct report as Mm.

    replace both front shocks
