Exactly the same as any other car or van I would have thought.

They are generally bled like any brake system.

Some modern ESP brake systems ideally need to be bled using a diagnostic computer.

Does your van have just basic ABS or has it got stability control(ASR/ESP etc)?
If its just ABS then it can be bled normally.

It wouldn't have to be a dealer anyway, good independent garages should have the equipment.

A mate of mine recently admitted to being addicted to brake fluid.

When I quizzed him on it he reckoned he could stop any time.

Mercedes vans sometimes will not bleed without going through what they call 'exceptional' bleeding which bascially gets the ABS pump running during the bleeding process

Yup, On the likes of VAG's with the ESP the bleed sequence is done through the diagnostics computer. Its activates the ABS/ESP module bleed each wheel.

Its especially important if you have drained the whole system or changed the module or a master cylinder etc.

I should thing a good thourough bleeding followed by a session of back bleeding should be sufficient even for the most stubborn ABS system. If some spongieness is left another session the next day should sort it.
I have bled plenty of ASB systems in the normal way and never had any problems above the usual.

WABCO SLABS systems in Land Rovers only need a diagnostic bleed if the modulator has been disturbed, otherwise they bleed in the normal way. You can use the computer to power bleed the lot though.

Have to remove the ABS modulator in my Defender is it has the usual shuttle switch failure. Thanks to the US army there's a cheap fix rather than a new one, Humvees use the same unit :D
