Hi all, my son has been offered a part time job but they need him on Thursday afternoon. He has once class in the morning and then nothing for about 4 hours , then he has a lecture. He said its ok to miss the lecture as he can get it on Moodle.
Is this correct, is it not complusary attendance. He wouldnt miss it if it was a tutorial.
Thanks for the help.He really needs the job,Cathy

He's unlikely to get in any trouble over it
If he's worried about it he could have a word with the lecturer and tell them he will catch up
Once he actually catches up on moodle and checks with classmates for any extra notes I'd say he'll be ok!

Nearly all lecture notes are posted on moodle afterwards, for a lot of lectures they just run through the slides so he wouldn't be missing too much.

The truth is all students skip classes. Sometimes attendance is compulsory as in a few marks are awarded for attendance (usually in the lower years where it's not going to make a difference to you anyway) but he would know if this was the case for the particular module. It's not school, it's in your hands whether you attend classes or not, whether you put in the work or not, nobody is going to be chasing you up about it. Depends what year he is in but one class of one module a week is not going to be a big deal to miss I'd imagine once he catches up with the notes ofc.

Not all notes are on moodle. Some lecturers only put up a fraction of their notes. But, as has been said, talk to the lecturer, it should be fine IF he does the work to catch up.
