Jaysus you would want to give it a empty run afterwards.. I washed a boiler suit that had spills of gear oil on it.. You could smell the gear oil in the washing machine after..

Believe it or not, the old lady didn't hit the roof.

It did a very good job on the screwdrivers and the likes. The spanners not so much and the sockets a little worse again.

Ended up doing some of them with a dishwasher tablet dissolved in boiling water.

All cleaned and dry now, and lightly oiled to stop them rusting. Decided my trusty sykes box was beyond cleaning so have ordered a new one :(

Good stuff Slidey I have a brand new Halfords topbox and thats what Im going to ship the tools in. I'll try squeeze as much as I can in it, got a quote for around €600 - €700. Who did you ship it with and did it take long?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭Slidey

    Multi cargo in Santry.

Ask for Lindsay, you can tell her I sent ya.

Took 3 days to get here. You will need to have a detailed inventory of everything in the box and it has to be clean.

My box was stuffed to bursting and weight 94 kilo. After pallet etc its shipping weight was 110 I think

    No are they good:p:D

I would never have thought of putting anything other than dishes in a dishwasher, then the wife came along and demonstrated that just about anything can go in there. Had a close call last week with painting stuff though.

Halfords tools are great, I have one of their 197 (or whatever) briefcase toolkits, dunno what I'd do without it now. I think the only thing I had to toss as tat was the torch.

They are as good any any other normal tool box IMO.

I have my tools in a combination of Teng and Halfords boxes. The Halfords ones are nearly 5 years old and are still perfect.

Company loaned me the trolley. They make large ones with inflatable tyres for everyone but the welder is flat to the mat at the minute.

I put my employers address on it but you have to go and collect it from the depot which is out at the airport. You get given paperwork at the freight company, bring it to customs and then from there to AQIS which will decide wether they want to inspect it or not.

In my case they didn't, they just stamped the forms and then I could go back and collect the box

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
