Wireless Router Question

Guys have a Eircom Standard Modem with 8 GB NGB Broadband am only able to obtain 5mbps due to line limations even though paying for 8. I was looking at getting a wireless router to extend the wifi in my home, Any reccomendations on modems? I was looking at the following Apple extreme base station Billion 7800N Any help…

Yes checked the speed can change from day to day but more or less stays at 4mb!
