just did a bit of googling and found this,
Highlights of the Epson Stylus SX235W Wireless All-in-One

    • Epson’s smallest all-in-one: 39% smaller than previous models
    • Sleek, stylish design
    • Save money with individual inks – only replace the colour used
    • Print, scan and copy from anywhere in the home with Wi-Fi connectivity
    • Mobile printing from your smartphone or tablet PC

Is this a first at long last because over on the computer forum someone said they never heard of a printer that would print when one of the cartridges were empty.

That doesn't actually say that but yup, if you run out of the black with these printers (I have the SX515W, never liked it, would rather a HP, HP make great printers, shit laptops) the other 3 ink colours will mix together and make a Composite black...it looks black. These have been out years.

I've haven't run out of a colour yet (rarely use it) so I don't know if the other 3 will mix to sub it, Cyan ink is giving me a low warning this few wks thought so wouldn't take much to actually check it.

I Kodak works out printing about 3 cent black and white.

Anyone know the print cost on the Epson Stylus Sx235Wcartriges

seems alot of websites are saying the Kodak works out cheaper for printing expecially color.

    10 cent v 6 cent.

Anyone get any ideas on this?

I have the SX515W and when it ran out of black it wouldnt allow me to print or even scan a document(which I thought was taking the p*ss). It just kept insisting that I replace the cartridge. Same thing happened when one of the colours ran out.

Only good thing is that the compatible cartridges worked fine in it.

    Does the SX235 do this.

It has done it for me out of the box, it'll pop up a warning that's it's going to do it before hand.

    Check your settings I suppose.

true but if you're a long way from an Argos store you'll save on time and petrol with the free delivery from Amazon.

These printers were €39.99 in Dunnes in Cork (Bishopscourt) yesterday.

Dunnes clondalkin also had these during the week for €40.

Does anyone know if the cartridges are refillable or what's the cheapest compatiblereplacement for them

More important is how much ink costs.

    Genuine ink?
€1707 per liter if you buy the multipack on amazon.
€2439 per liter if you buy individual cartridges on irish sites

    Non genuine refill ink?
Bulk dye based about €20 per liter on ebay
Bulk pigment (durabrite equivalent) about €100+ on ebay

does this cheap ink work with both types of printer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 367 ✭✭mel1

Had this printer since xmas (€49.00) and it has been 1 problem after another.
I bought it only for the purpose of it being a wifi printer and the wifi has never worked!
The ink which came with it ran out within a few days (all of them even though i was not useing the colour) so i assume it mixed the colour to make black!
The multi pack was €45 euro from tesco, nothing cheap about that!
Tried the tesco remanufactured inks, the first one worked for a while then shortly after, with not much printing the printer said the catridge was empty so i took it out and from shaking gently i believe it was still half full, i put it back in printer and then printer said it did not regonise the catridge. tried a new tesco compatible catridge and it wont recognise that either.
All in all i hate this printer:mad:.
I guess you always get what you pay for Cheap printer, cheap quality and rode for the ink!

Unless you have any horror stories about them

I got an Epson today. Easy to setup and wireless is working perfectly. Handy app for it also for Android phones.

As has been mentioned before Dunnes currently has a good selection of those printers as well (all pics taken less than 30 minutes ago in the Tralee NCR store):

    191981.jpg

    191982.jpg

    191983.jpg

I didn't buy any of these but instead took a foldable metal shovel that was reduced from €12 to €5.
