    Hi all,

Im in the market for a new set of alloys as my 17' are destroying my poor car. Every alloy ive priced tho seems to come with Nankangs as standard. Now i know alot of people have some severe animosity towards nankangs which is why i need some serious advice.

My question is, will these Nankangs do until I can save for a good set of tyres or are they just pure lethal?

Where are you buying them ?
    Are they new?

If new you can specify which tyre you would like fitted

East Coast Alloys in Ardee are the ones im looking at. And yeah they'll be new alloys.

Ideally id like better tyres but i can only stretch to about 600 Euro at the minute.

If you know that you're going to upgrade soon, why not get some steelies and decent tires? It would seem to make more sense that the show and no go approach if you get crappy rubber?

I'd be getting used OE alloys and good brand tyres

I really don't rate ECA for rubber. Would you buy the alloys off them and tyres off McManus further up the road? He's cheaper than most...

Ask Dean in East coast alloys what other makes of tyres he can supply.
    Ask for Hankook or similar

    Failing that
Give Keith a ring on Alloy-wheels.ie

Nankang are the budget option, you should ask for prices for the next tyre up etc etc it may not be as expensive as you think to upgrade the tyre choice now from ECC instead of paying 600 now, and in 6 months paying another 600 for decent tyres!

PS - i dont have a problem woth Nangkang tbh, ive used them before and would use them again depending on car etc
Its your driving that will keep you safe, and not the limit of the tyre on the average daily drive.

If they are a special deal, alloy wheel + tyres package he may not be able to or at the very least will have to pay extra for better tyres.

Alot of alloy wheel + tyres offers in Halfords come with Nangkangs fitted too.

Nankangs are terrible tyres alright but if it's part of the deal I'd say go for them but change them as soon as you can.

Be mindful that you have them on when you're driving. Keep to the speed limit, don't corner fast and keep a safe distance to the car in front.

They'll be ok untill you can change.
