    Hi all,
I bought a chinese phone while travellingas my phone broke.. I wanted an android and bought one that could be set to english and all seemed ok. Then when I returned to ireland I realized that its not only the isp who restricts network usage in china but also the devices :-(

Now I have an english translated version of chinese version of android on my phone (lenovo p70).

I've read online that if ur device is a registered one with android, then I might be able to root it and install an english version of it. Then I would be able to access the marketplacefor apps!

I've read into this a bit on xda developers and im dont feel techy enough to do it myself. Anyone know of somewhere reliable where. I could get this done in dublin or should I cut my loses (about €220) and buy another phone.

A quick google shows that it is a decent phone with an unusually large battery, probably worth taking a shot at rooting and installing a better rom yourself. You have nothing to lose anyway. Look at different forums and find a set of instructions that worked for people. If I had a phone with a 2000mAh battery, I'd definitely want to keep using it.

Definitely have a go at rooting and flashing a new rom....to get to a decent Gingerbread ROM is really straightforward. Try xda or androidadvices.com

This thread is all about doing exactly what you wanna do OP. I only skimmed but it looks like people had some success. Make a cuppa and have a read.

Dual-sim. You don't see too many of those around in Europe.
