As the title ,but specifically when going over speed ramps etc. Do folks hear any noise when the bike hits something bumpy ? ,I'm not sure if it's the saddle bag making noise or cables hitting off the frame ..

I have been telling myself ,maybe people replace the carbon forks every few months .. ?

I'm probably a bit jittery after the big fall last week ,I heard the sound before then though.
I'll ask the Lbs about it tomorrow ,no doubt the weather will have me in there.

Isolating where a rattle is coming from is a tricky business. There are some good articles out there if you do a bit of googling.

Bikes rattle sometimes. Sometimes it's a bad rattle, mostly it's just life.

%20target=_blank%20%3Espeedramp.jpgJust to prove I'm completely mad ,this image shows what I'm talking about.
When I come up to a fairly steep road ramp ,where there is some force pushing against the forks. I presume the back of the bike lifts suddenly and this causes the saddle bag to knock.

Chains also slap off the chainstay on bad bumps, so thats something to consider

    nope

hold the front brake and rock the front wheel you'll notice any unusual movement, at least it'll put your mind at rest

are your gear cables tapping the frame (mine have little plastic pegs which were lose - i had to araldite them in)

Thanks for the replies ,both the chainstay and gear cable could easily be the sound. The bike has one internal cable along the top tube for the rear break ,maybe theres a casing inside for this.

This sound very seldom happens because I usually avoid hitting things like this ,but sometimes I don't have a choice when the road is in bad condition ,I have to keep the weight down otherwise I'd bop all over the place. I'm not worried about it anymore ,which is great.
    Much appreciated.

Lock your front brake. Rock bike back and forth- see if there's any play in the headset?

I checked out the fork with the break on ,no movement on noise at all. I stopped wearing headphones since I got my road bike ,so I'm probably hearing stuff now that was always there on my other bike.:(

If you've still got the reflecters on the wheels they could be banging off the spokes.
