I'm looking for some advice. I live in a 2 bed apt with kitchen/sitting room. I was thinking of putting in a breakfast bar to section off the kitchen from the sitting room seperating kitchen space from the sitting room, plus provide additional counter space.

Any suggestion on whether I should just put in the breakfast bar as a counter or put in a solid unit - Worry is that a unit would make the area look smaller, with just breakfast creating a illusion of space (shortage of that!!)

what I would do is go to ikea (or any kitchen supplier that will do you a 3d type design), get them to do up a plan for both options.

go home, and take a month to think about it.

    best of luck

We're just after replacing our kitchen and we got one of these from Ikea and it has great storage and counter space.

We modified it by putting it on a plinth and wheels so we can move it in and out of position as we need so it is very flexible. We also changed the worktop to match the kitchen worktop, changed the handles, put tongue and groove cladding on the sides and back and painted it! So it blends in well with the rest of the kitchen.
