First of all, I'm looking for roommates. I don't think theres any point stressing too much about putting down a deposit until we arrive in case of scams.
I want to head to the city and from what I've gathered so far, Woodside and Woodlawn seem to be the main Irish areas!

I'd also really appreciate any general advice anyone has to offer or if anyone could PM me job contacts or maybe landlords that they have dealt with.!

There's a FB group of Irish NY J1ers.

There was one for last summer as well and it was pretty handy for finding roommates, apartments and even a job or two. Can't say it'll be the same this year, but worth a shot.
