Nice Gesture by Cycle Superstore

Stopped for coffee in Mount Usher, Ashford today and a guy from Cycle Superstore was there donating a track pump to the cafe. He said he was going to donate pumps to all of the cafes used by cyclists. I told him Clodagh's in Laragh, Kingfisher's in Enniskerry, Fisher's in Newtown and Glencree Reconcilliation Centre were the ones we use. It's a good idea and fair play to Cycle Superstore.

    :D

I'd never ask in a coffee shop for a pump though. I'd doubt if they will have one on display for cyclists when they could have yummy cream cakes to display. It is a great idea if people knew they were there.

They could donate one to Cyclelogical!

Great idea. Fair play Cycle Superstore.

Was thinking folks on here might donate to a similar kind of scheme. A box that gets left in/at some of the stops on the more popular routes. It gets filled with donated spare tubes, levers, gels etc. If you take something you come back on your next spin and replace it. Like an honesty box...

    Good idea daragh.

A track pump is particularly useful. I hate riding long distances on 60 PSI. I know I should get some CO2 or develop my pump action - no sniggering down the back! I would happily skull a coffee anywhere that I could top up after a puncture repair.

    Nice idea from CSS

    For those without friendface:
Best part of our ride is frequently the coffee stop. Somewhere nice, middle of nowhere, good coffee, couple of decent sweet options, good sandwiches, homemade soup and banter with the mates. Maybe check out some of the bikes parked outside. Perhaps chat with a few other groups on what they have been up to. We tend in fact to base our ride on which cafe we are going to stop in that day.

Worst part of our ride is probably puncturing, then feeling for the rest of ride that the tyres are a little underpowered. So what we have done is to leave track pumps at some of the best coffee stops where we know you will probably stop too. So, next time you are out, know that the following list of places have a decent pump to get your tyres up to top speed. Look out for the above signs and ask for the use of their pump if you need it.

    • Kingfisher’s Kitchen, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow
    • The Armoury Cafe, Glencree Reconciliation Ctr., Co. Dublin
    • The Coffee Dock, Main St., Roundwood, Co. Wicklow.
    • Glendalough Green, Larragh, Co. Wicklow.
    • Glenmalure Lodge, Glenmalure, Co. Wicklow.
    • Avoca Cafe, Mount Usher Gardens, Ashford, Co. Wicklow.
    • Coffee Shop, Delgany, Co. Wicklow.
    • The Buttery Cafe, Fishers, Newtown Mount Kennedy, Co. Wicklow.
    • Johnny Fox’s Pub. Glencullen, Co. Dublin
    • Kenny’s Kitchen, Main St., Blessington, Co. Wicklow.

It's a great idea indeed, fair play to the guys, I hope they have CSS printed all over the pumps so people know where they came from, daraghs idea is a good'n' too, I wouldn't mind having a little survival box in the cave for needy commuters to avail of, it would save them money and I don't mind lending(most)tools out.

    Northsiders got some too :)

    https://www.facebook.com/CSDstore
We mentioned a few days ago we had put some floor pumps for road cyclists in cafes. All of these cafes were on the south side of Dublin and further south into the Wicklow mountains. . Thanks to feedback here from some of our Northside Roadies, we have provided the following Cafes with pumps as well. Look out for the signs and please ask for the pump if you need it.

    • Seamus Ennis Cultural Centre Cafe, The Naul, Co. Dublin
    • Gourmet Food Parlour, The Grange, Ballyboughal, Co. Dublin
    • Sage & Stone, Newlanes, Duleek, Co. Meath.
    • Newbarn Farm, Old Finglas Rd, Co. Dublin.
    • Corks Cafe, Ashbourne, Co. Meath.
    • Maguire’s Cafe, Hill of Tara, Co. Meath.

Check out some of these routes on the other side for a break from your usual rides. There are some great rolling roads through serene countryside, and all of the cafes above are popular with cyclists for a good reason- good coffee and food, some great locations and lovely places. Further details we’ll add on our website shortly.

Newbarn Farm does some pretty good food, you can go play with the animals too.

Great idea could be taken up nationwide by local cycle clubs leaving track pumps at their frequent haunts !!

Walked into insomnia in Greystones recently in my bike gear. I heard a woman there whisper to an other "There's a bike guy, lets ask him if he has one". They didn't look like they'd arrived by bike, not least because one was holding a baby. It turned out their buggy had a flat!

What do I look like "Eurobike and Eurobaby"? As well has carrying spare tubes, should I start carrying disposable nappies?

It would certainly cut down on pee stops.

If anyone is buying in CSS its good to mention the cycling community appreciation for this sponsorship. Recognition with these kind of win/win promotions really work. saying thank you is extremely cheap.

Now could they supply air canisters so I don't have to pump...

    "Greed is good".
