I'd like to work in the area of new product development and design engineering. However, all the Irish jobs in these areas require at least 3 years' experience.

I have been attending interviews for graduate positions related to that field, but I've failed them all.

As I'm newly graduated, where can I train for these jobs? Is my only option to move to Britain for an entry-level place or is there any other way?

I sometimes see Graduate jobs advertised for Fusion Intertrade Ireland that are related to Design Engineering.

    http://www.intertradeireland.com/fusion/

If you are interested in working in the Netherlands as a mechanical design Engineer send me a PM. There are quite a few Irish Grads out here already who couldnt get anything in Ireland.

Im sort of in a similar position. Im lucky enough to have 2 years autocad experience in the building industry but im really interested in the automotive/ motorsport side of things.

Its hard to go up against other candidates with multiple years of experience though in Ireland atm

Ill send you a pm as well Diabhal_Glas if you dont mind if you have any info of jobs in Holland.

I've been working as a product design engineer since 2006. I move to Northern Ireland last August. The pay is better here and the cost of living is lower. Last Friday I decided I wanted a change so I updated my Linkedin profile. I had an interview on Wednesday and I got an offer on Thursday. I really struggled to find work in the republic last year. Its not to far from home that I cant drive or get the train every weekend so perhaps its worth considering?
