Fainting after injection - Dentist

Since I was a child, I randomly faint sometimes following an injection at the dentist. Like about once every 4 visits which need injections. And we are talking full out cold for a couple of minutes.
It happens about 5 minutes or so following the injection.
For a couple of years the dentists used adrenaline free anaesthetic - and that seem to work for a while, but a couple of months ago I fainted again even using that.
The dentist made me go to the GP who said it's just a reaction some people have.
Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? I have had loads of fillings and am not that 'scared' of the dentist.
It's nothing to do with low blood sugar as I always eat etc before I go.
