just had car serviced and mechanic said that the turbo is leaking oil and needs replacement. it's a 08 ford focus 1.6 TDCi with about 100,000kms. haven't noticed any other problems with turbo eg. no loss of power and no noise.
will it definitely need replacing or could problem of leaking oil be solved another way?

It is obviously impossible to diagnose over the internet but the turbos give plenty of trouble on those engines so he is probably correct in what he said.

Depending where its leaking oil...if its leaking from the air intake side to exhaust side then you will need a new/reconditioned turbo..but if it leaking externally then it maybe just need an o-ring/seal....?
