Garda GATSO van

Just passed a Garda gatso van parked before Heuston Station. In the space of ten minutes it had caught 3 separate cars travelling at safe speeds on an empty road (3 lanes) at 1am in the morning.

Last week, I passed a speed check on the Stillorgan dual carriageway (3 lanes) at 11.30pm where several cars were pulled in for exceeding the ridiculously low 60kmp/h limit.

I have noticed a few of the GoSafe Gatso vans parked on dangerous roads which is preferable. There was one last week on a bad stretch of road on the N5 before Charlestown. . It's a shame the gardai and the heroes of the traffic corps continue to let themselves down so badly though.

I observed a marginal difference between those cars which were caught and other traffic which was not. I would estimate the average driver caught was travelling at around 60-65kmp/h.

I observed the GATSO van from around 50 meters away.

Taxi drivers all seemed to know of the van. It was all regular cars caught.
