    Hi
I'd like a qasqui or rav4 type car - but without e900 motor tax. Maybe an estate instead. Dog likes to jump around so need a separate section for her. I only do 10 mile round trips to work during week - but hope to do more trips in summer. I have a car to trade in and about e4000 - prob wouldn't get qasqui or rav4 for this though. Any ideas what to look for? Thank you
I forgot to tell you that car must be able to carry 2 kayaks and have room for camping stuff

    I'd advise this.

Small petrol engine which is good for short trips. Loads of space for kayaks and gear. Lots of space for the dog. Hard wearing interior.

And it looks a bit different

A 2009 and heaps of room alright! I can't decide whether it's nice - or if it's a wierd moon-mobile. Although I do have a handbag that would match the colour perfectly :) I don't think I'd get enough for my car to bring me upto e9000. maybe that's a good thing! Thanks again :)

It's a petrol Fiat which the dealer isn't going to shift anytime soon.

I'd pay it a visit. I'm not sure how much Quashqui your budget will get you tbh

In before the Octavia and its boot.

As an active Kayaker and almost every weekend camper during the summer, I use a lift back Avensis. I generally fit my playboat, tent and all my other gear into the boot. If I need more space then I have racks for the boats.

Would you consider a smaller estate? V50 maybe?

Your a bit like myself, so with all the gear and the dog I'd consider looking at something sizewise like a Peugeot Partner or even a bit bigger, something like a Fiat Scudo.

Car-vans in this category are easy to drive, certainly as easy as any car but the advantage with all the space is that you are never trying to stuff a load of gear into small spaces which can be annoying. Something the size of a Scudo also allows you to build a small platform so you can sleep in it if you need to.

I'd consider a Qubo the same size on the interior as a Scudo (or at least almost as big)

I've been looking at all 3 on carzone - some good ideas there. Is your avensis an estate or hatchback? I only saw avensis hatchbacks and saloons on carzone - but googled pics of estates. Octavia looks nice too. Not too sure about v50 - must investigate them more tomorrow. Bye

Now you're just making up words :)

I like the Kia a lot though

As with all used cars make sure you get a mechanic to inspect it and do a history check on motorcheck.ie

2008 Mondeo estate. The tax is reasonable on the 1.6. The father in law has the saloon and thats big, so i'm guessing the estate is huge.

Aww jesus .. its a Marmite car :)

Seriously though, the Volvo V50 might be ok for you, boot is big enough for one car, theres a few dog guards you can get for them.

Audi A4 Estate, Passat Estate, Mondeo Mk1 Estate (MKII is outside you budget I think) Ford Focus Estate is basically the same as the Volvo V50.

IMO You'll be fine with an estate (If you can find a decent one in Ireland, they're not so popular there)

It is huge car though I think that one may be a bit over priced I have 2.0 petrol zetec estate a few months now that I paid a lot less than that for from a dealer. Yes mileage is very low so low I'd be worried how often if ever was it serviced.

Mondeo Mk4 may be out of budget Mk3 should be right in budget

I test drove this when I was looking, clean car in very good condition with a full service history. Part of me thinks I should have saved a few thousand and got this instead. Its not as pretty as the Mk4 nor quite as big it is as good a car most ways.
