I got clamped by ncps in an aldi car park.. I didn't realised it had been clamped until today and it was clamped on tuesday afternoon. The way i calulated it's 90eur realease fee plus 90 eur every extra 24hrs so that's 270eur i would owe them.

I tried removing it, took off the wheel and all but the chain is in through the wishbone. So i have a right mind to rent a bolt cutter from the hardware shop take it off, and play inncoent if anything is ever asked...

What were you buying? Must have been some trolley load if you been at it since Tuesday:D

PS... they have the spare disks for the angle grinders in at present so maybe pop back in.

dont leave your car in business's carpark like that. Do you have any idea how much it costs for parking spaces. In my opinion you deserve it.

However on the other hand ncps are the biggest shower of cnuts iv ever encountered. Cut it off and deny all knowledge. Thats extortion

Hmmm, yeah it's beside my friends house and I'm staying with him for a couple of weeks, he has no parking space in his apt..

There were eight cars clamped in that car park today, and 3 including mine were still there at 10 this evening..

I now, it's stupid, but i paid a clamp fee last year in college and being on the dole, i just can't afford to pay it again... :(

You wouldn't have to if you had learned to respect other peoples property.

Likely aldi may have CCTV on their car park so don't get caught cutting it off - but if not, then go for it.

From watching too many police shows, a baseball hat and hoody defeat all known CCTV systems.

But I wouldn't advice wearing the same clothes going into the car park again. Perhaps a trip to your Dunnes or Penny's before hand:D

I know it might sound a bit idiotic, but try picking the padlock. Not as hard as most people think, if you manage to do it just lock the clamp to a nearby lamppost :)

If you can take the wheel off can you put your spare on? Drive to somewhere that the clamp can be removed and bring it back?

You're liable for any damage caused to the clamp though...

Only if they can prove it was you.

It's criminal damage which needs to be proven beyond responsible doubt. So if you come back to your car and drive off, how are you supposed to know you had been clamped and some do gooder cut it off;)

A lot of those car parks have signs up about maximum times do they not?

Either way it is the OP's fault...

If your removing it be careful as some clampers wrap it around the axle.
