Trying to work out mileage

The car is old enough so the clocks show miles only, no kilometres.

For €10 petrol I get exactly 60 miles. The tank is quite small, €50 fills it up, so that means for a full tank im getting 500 kilometres. How do I use this to work out miles per gallon or litres per km?

    Its a 1.3 toyota corolla

    Thanks

At €1.51 (price here) for petrol, that would be 41 mpg provided that the 60 miles for 10 euro is correct. Its much more accurate to fill to the neck. Drive for a day or 2, record the miles driven and then fill to neck again.

    To get MPG:

miles covered x 4.54 x price per litre all devided by euro amount bought

    So (60 miles x 4.54 x 1.51)/10 = 41.13 mpg

Obviously enter you own petrol price per litre.

Next time you go to the petrol station, fill the tank to the top. Write down your mileage from the odometer.

After driving until your tank is near empty, fill it again to the top.
Note the no. of litres used to fill the tank, and record the new mileage from your odometer.

Your MPG = (New Mileage - Old Mileage) / No. of litres x 4.54609

(There are 4.54609 litres in 1 gallon)
