Car Insurance Renewal

    I know we've all heard about shopping around for insurance etc, but my renewal notice and an online quote from the same insurer had a €150 difference.

    Rang them to find out what the difference was in the policy and they confirmed there is none.

    Asked could I pay the online premium (excl. online discount) at my local branch, and was told no the local branch can not give you the same premium quote!

    Insurers are hungry enough for what they call "new business" that they discount it, and churn business, even their own.

    I did pay online.

    I was just surprised that the basic premium quote differed so much.

    When I rang to query it, I was told that it was rating error on the website but that they would honour it if you paid online but not if you took a print out of the quote to the local branch!
