Does it have a Thermostat ? if so remove it and push the spindle up and down manually.

Top or bottom, or just overall low temp.?

    @the OP:
Your CH system isn't balanced. Get this done.

How the hell can you give such definitive advice on this statement....

The half educated telling the illiterate a lesson:

If the one radiator is not heating up but the others are then CH system isn't balanced. Plain explanation.

How old is Billy Bunting ? I received suggestion per PM about children in this forum who have to be treated like, so I'm asking. No insult, a lollipop for the answer.

And so if its full of air? sticky spindle? stat too low? call out your local heating consultant to balance the system, one could also ask him to stick in a fuel cell while he’s at it.

it has no thermostat. it is the top half that doesnt heat properly. all other radiators are working well
    thanks

There are several reasons why it might not heat up properly.
The situation has to be investigated in-situ. A correct balancing of the system will eliminate such problems. The balancing job might include installation of new material.
So get a professional in, ask for the CH system to be balanced.

For a start, try opening the lockshield a half turn, that's the one with smaller cap, you will need a pliers or a small adjustable spanner.

or try turning off all the other rads except the problem one and run the heating through it and gradually turn on the other rads one by one, just could be a "lazy" rad

Does water come out when you bleed it ?

Why does each thread you become involved in Heinbloed seem to quickly descend into farce, where you end up arguing with the plumbers and heating engineers here? Not an insult, just a question.

We come on here trying to help people in a practical way where possible, but end up being spoken down to by you.

Is this why it's romoured here not only that there is children on this site, but the fact you have been banned from other forums because of the very same thing.

A lollipop for anyone who can confirm these rumors, errr, about the kids;)

As the OP says it's the top half of his radiator that is not heating. This is almost always air. If they have tried to bleed the radiator and had no water it is either a pressurised system that needs to be topped up or a blockage at the vent itself. If the latter is the case my advice would be to turn off both radiator valves and remove the vent pin completely. Use something like a sewing needle to clean any suspected blockage from the vent hole by simply inserting it ,do not jiggle it from side to side, straight in and out will do. Replace pin ,turn valves back on and bleed as normal.
