Need to get my UREI Mixer repaired lads? Any suggestions?

I tried Aquarius Sound and they don't repair UREIs. So looked on the UREI/Soundcraft website and they give Audio Warehouse as the distributors so I rang them and they gave me the number of a place in town. The guy said that he'd have a look at it and give me an estimate but if I didn't go with him to repair it he'd charge a €65 (+VAT) fee. That cost alone makes it not worth while to repair.

Have you tried looking up any Youtube repair videos yourself Baz just to see if it's something you can attempt yourself? Might be worth considering before shelling money out like that.

Never thought of that. I must have a look.

I have a mate that's pretty handy at fixing all things electrical, so worst case scenario I'll get him to have a look.

Tbh though, I'm only really willing to spend about €50 to get it fixed. Any more and I'd be better off getting a new......and I do have my eye on Xone 22! :)

what's the problem with it as a matter of interest?

have a Urei well, pots are getting crackly but it's nothing serious really...

just needs a thorough cleaning i reckon

Just not powering up. Plugged it in a while ago and it went pop. Slight burning smell.

ah yeah, that's probably something that needs investigating all right, sounds like a burned out fuse in there somewhere.

any chance you could pm me your man's details for future reference?

It'd be nice if it was something as simple as a blown fuse, hopefully it's not a blown DSP/Motherboard (which seems to be a common fault, and one of the reasons that they were discontinued). If it is that, the cost of the replacement board is more expensive than a complete mixer....... and sure enough the S model that I have is the most expensive to replace.

Ouch! Yeah I have the 1601e and have never had a minute's hassle with it.

Are you not still under warranty?

Still haven't gotten round to having it fixed yet, I've been quite busy.

Looking at your FB page, you're in Cork? I'm in Dublin so it'd be difficult to get it to you.

    Hi,
If you have no joy there give me a call and we can organise it to be couriered...... I have been taking care of more and more equipment in Dublin as people forsome reason find it tough to find someone to repair and service at a reasonable price..

Let me know how u get on.

    Regards
    Dave
