Hi there. A good mate of mine took up golf last year and wants to get new irons now. He has used my taylormades r9's and likes them. We went looking and can buy new r9's now for 375 or the new r11's at 579. which is the best buy at the minute. He says he can afford the r11's but idk if it's worth the extra 200. Any other opinions appreciated.

Burner 2.0 are very good irons and would be good value now.

Make sure he gets fitted for them too. Usually done free where you buy them. Then he knows they suit him.

I bought the 9's second hand (perfect condition) for €250. They are a very nice iron.Is there much difference in the R9's and R11's? If not the €200 he could save buying the R9'S would buy a nice driver and wedge?

Thanks for all the replies lads, the consensus seems to be if you can afford the newest ones go for it. I think I'd buy the new older gen ones purely on the basis of the advertising blurb from when they were being marketed and on how they feel in use..

Please don't let your mate spend 600 notes on a set of irons without getting fitted....
