will be moving to knockalishen meelick in next month and no landline in house and dont want one, have rang the likes of digiweb, bbnet, ripplecom, munster broadband, the lot basically, im not interested in satellite broadband, anyway only ones that say they cover the area are digiweb & ripplecom, digiweb only can do homewave wireless option(which is ****e basically).

Ripplecom tell me they can cover the area and if i take the 8mb package with unlimited downloads i can expect speeds of between 4- 6mb, which is fine by me. so they took my info and told me installers will be out to check the area and if they can proceed with installation they will.

so if ripplecom cannot proceed with it, then mobile broadband with 3g dongle is my only option.

so my question is if mobile broadband is best option which to go for vodafone, o2, or three

my plan then is to just use my netgear 3g router to send the signal around the house.

only down side to mobile broadband is the tarrif cap, but as i said if this is my only option than im just out of luck i suppose.

i took pics of each coverage area and o2 seems to look better option.

Ignore the coverage maps, they're meaningless to you. The only way to know what might work is to try it out. Anyone else's opinion on a 3G service is irrelevant, as one person's experience has no baring on another's.

Don't make your choice on the package or price that's available, make it based on which works best (if any).

    so 2 options.

    option 1

    Digiweb

    45euro per month for 8mb download/1mb upload(if i got 4- 6mb id be happy enough)

    no installation fee

    1st 3 months is 20.12euro p/m

    free wireless modem

    60GB Cap per month.

    option 2

    Ripplecom

40euro per month for 8mb/1mb upload

    149 installation Fee

    50 Euro for Wireless Modem

    No Download Limits

so i guess the question is can i live with the cap of 60gb a month.

if you think about it if a downloaded a movie a day(which i wont) and the size of it was between 800mb to 1gb, than on average i could download 60 movies a month.

Keep in mind that even though they say Unlimited Downloads Ripplecom have an Acceptable Usage Policy which might be worth looking in to.

Took Ripplecom 6 weeks to come out to see if I could get connected here in Dublin and nope, no go...

I use 3 at the min and get 1-2mb down and up usually with a ping of 80-100... Sucks during peak times though but contract is up in a month so I'll move to meteor 30gb with pings 50-70ms and 4-5Mb down 2-3Mb up

D you know how much data you use at the minute!? chances are unless your a massive downloader 30-60gb would be grand for even always on decent enough usage tbh

Digiweb wireless is not too bad and I'd favour them over Ripplecom... 3g networks are totally area dependant, what works well in one area could be abysmal elsewhere. So the only way around it is to try each network in the area and see which works the best...

Digiweb > Ripplecom > whichever 3g works best

that's tha order of preference there for lil old al

    Here's some tests there

    Meteor

    Three

    one of the better results
