As the title goes, any lads or lassies in here do Boxercise?
My wife & I started nearly 4 weeks ago, do it on Mondays and Thursdays, Man I do be in ribbons after it... Starting to get very popular for people trying to get back into shape and get fit.

More women than men in the class but doesn't bother me..
    Definitely recommended!

Some of the flange doing it are fairly hot too, just try not to get caught by the missus :D.. the odd fatty thrown in for good measure too mind, was in the middle of the circuit training the other nite when a wan beside me, probably in her mid 30's farted (when i say farted, she probably sharted, sour pukey smell off it)... Durty hoor!

I thought 'Boxercise' was when you shart in a club and you have to race into the jacks to turn your boxers inside-out

My 40 year old out of shape cousin took it up a year ago, the cnut has a sixpack now, its meant to be brilliant.

Nope I do a proper Martial Art.

It's all just Tae Bo, just with a different name due to that being copyrighted, right. Though Boxercise is now trademarked too so I wonder what it'll be called in the next run. So all in all yes a good way to get fit but it's all just the fitness regime part of a Martial Art without the practical how to fight part.

I would just like to clarify that no matter how good the goal is I score I have never been 'hard', never mind 'triple hard' on an astro turf football pitch!

Is this another zumba like exercise? Throw your money away to do some light pointless exercise where as just going for a jog for a while would be much more beneficial and completely free?

Exercise for fat people I like to call it :pac:

    .......!

I know a few young ones who've taken up boxing recently, and fair play to them. This "boxercise" lark sounds like buying half a telly.

Nah zumba is cool, dance aerobics to different styles of music eg Latin, Hip hop, Bollywood, pop. Classes are included in my gym membership :D
It's all girls in our class, so don't feel paranoid about what I look like ;)

Why not train in a proper martial art?

The point is not learning how to box but the emphasis is on fitness, you do pretty much all the training that actual boxers do.
It's become extremely popular down my way for both men and women, the results are amazing.I've seen 20 stone guys who's only exercise was lifting pints transform completely from slobs to being fit and in shape.
The added bonus is that the local boxing club makes some much needed money even if the fees are way cheaper than a regular gym.Sparring is optional and has led to a few actually taking up boxing.

Right, why not join a boxing club and learn boxing as well? With all the advantages that entails like increased confidence, muscle control, co-ordination balance, relexes etc.....

Went to boxercise once, one of my friends said it was exactly how boxers train so I as looking forward to it. I do a fair amount of power lifting (a niche sport for those who don't know it) so I was looking forward to some light sparring and pad work. Little did I know that when I got there, there was none of it! It was just basic circuit training with a small bit of shadow boxing, was completely disappointed and on that basis i've never recommended it to anyone!

Since then i've taken up Judo as a way of keeping fit and active, its unbelievable! I'm only a novice but i've recommended it to a lot of my friends as the pace was much better and there is something to aim for (going up in belts) rather then just mindlessly exercising to something that an instructor is shouting at you.

We were also doing squatting at the boxercise class I went to with 30kg sandbags, while they weren't heavy I did notice that the instructor took no time to show people how to squat properly so rounded backs and pushing off the toes all around! Another reason why I left and never went back!

Moved house a while back, got plenty of boxercise then.

Haa it amuses me, at least people are exercising even if it is some dodgy new wave aerobics from la or something, but then no its not good enough all the bro science comes in and those classes are pointless or good enough if you want to get really fit, I think the people who go aren't aiming to be really fit mostly.

I see the social element or idea that you would have to go to be the main thing, because yes you can go to a exercise video online and knock over the lamp doing it at home for free :D

I don't do them I make good use of the pavement but when I finish college I'm joining the local gym so I'm not inside or job hunting alone all the time *forever alone*

It's a fitnesscircuit, not a martial art there young padawan.

OP: No I don't do it but fair play if you enjoy it and you feel it's working.

Lisa, if the Bible has taught us nothing else -- and it hasn't -- it's that girls should stick to girl's sports, such as hot oil wrestling and foxy boxing

In our local club many of the younger lads have taken up boxing as a result of just going for the fitness training,us older lads-too late for us.We served our time at the old fisticuffs.

A lot of places have popped up claiming to be doing Boxercise but as was stated in another post they are only doing glorified circuit training. Here in Enniscorthy we are lucky to have dedicated trainers who know their stuff and will push partcipants all the way,as they say "no pain,no gain".
They even do proper sparring sessions if you want to take part,of course lads being lads nobody wants to turn that down:)

Anything that gets people fit is good but i agree, if you want to box join a Boxing club

Seriously anyone who comes to my Ladies Boxing class from Boxercise has horrible technique and are behind people on there 1st time training due to there bad habits that they have picked up

well said, you'll learn actual Boxing and get fitter than doing Aerobics with
really poor Boxing thrown in, most Boxercise teachers never Boxed either so are cons in reality.

That's great but basically means it's not really Boxercise, there using the name to attract ladies, sounds like a Boxing class which is aimed at fitness people rather than fighters.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.
