URGENT HELP

    After folding up my laptop for bout half an hr after a fire alarm, I noticed about 7 files that were saved on my desktop disappeared off it. These were chapters of my college thesis and its due next week. How can I try to recover them?

    Have you checked the Recycle Bin?

    Open a search window, and search for the files that way. Then search for all documents and see if you can see them. Search for *.doc or *.docx and look through them.

    And for gods sake, download DropBox and put them on there! Or at least email them to yourself when you find them! Backup, backup, backup and backup!
