My OH is buying a car on saturday but is working so I said I'd collect it. I have no policy of my own to transfer at the minute.
can I be added to her policy as a named driver for the day and collect the car? Just for the day.

Ring her insurance company. They are the only people who can answer that.

Just seeing if anyone had any similar experiences and if it's at all possible.

I'd imagine it "could" be,i dunno.I guess it depends on a lot of factors such as your age, experience, driving licence. You could be asked to be added to it permanently if you wished.

That's all fair and well, but being honest, no matter what we say you're going to have to call the insurance company to clarify. I wouldn't take anything anyone says on here as gospel.

I tried something similar but was told no. You could check the policy to see if it allows you to be added then removed with a €50 charge or something like that.

I tried something similar ... something like that.
Which is exactly what the lads were pointing out to OP - policies these days vary so much in terms of what and who's covered, the only certain way to figure it out is to ring the company / broker and have them fax a cover note through.
