what do you think of cattle dealing in calf heifers? I bought a few in january and 2 of them were only in a mart 2 days beforehand. I dont mind seein bullocks or weanlings being dealt but how can it be good for a heavy pregnant heifer to be up and down off trailers and ramps 4 or 6 times a week not to mention being put in a crush to take off mart stickers and put new ones on

if theres money in it there will be someone at it. wouldnt agree with buying sucklers that have been round the marts anything could hurt the calf but thats the risk you take. wouldnt be too found of a cow calving at a mart though.

Further to above. Very few people sell their best cows. Many are for sale for a reason!

Last few cattle I had in a mart were bought by a dealer, I ain't complaining as I have found the money to be really useful since:D

Ge lads, on one thread people are complaining about the prices being paid for animals around the ring in the next thread you are complaining about animals moving around. You can have your cake and eat it. Didnt I read recently about a woman giving birth after running a marathon in the states. I would say it makes very little odds to a fit animal as long as she is moved through a mart at the latest 10 days before calving
